Physical activity
Endurance or cardiovascular activity
Endurance activities raise your heart rate, make you breathe faster, or may make
you sweat. There are two levels of endurance activity. Moderate endurance
activities like walking, yard work, house cleaning, or bicycling cause a
slight-to-moderate increase in breathing or heart rate or may cause light
sweating. More intense activities or vigorous activities, like aerobics or
jogging, cause heavy sweating or large increases in breathing or heart rate.
We should aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate activity on most days
of the week. You can get the 30 minutes of moderate activity all at once
or in smaller segments of 10 minutes at a time. Even more benefits can be
obtained by increasing the time you do the activity or by increasing the
intensity of activity to vigorous.
